PREGNANCY
Non-Invasive prenatal paternity testing (NIPPT)
DETERMINE THE BIOLOGICAL FATHER WHEN PREGNANT
NIPPT is non-invasive and does not put your pregnancy at risk.
The likelihood of your unborn child’s biological father can be determined by a maternal blood test from 8 weeks gestation.
We understand this is a highly anxious time for most parties involved. Please ensure you have had confirmation of pregnancy before booking your appointment.
Testing involves a blood sample taken from the mother and alleged father/s. Maternal blood contains fetal DNA that can be extracted and compared to the potential father/s DNA. The results will usually be reported as 99.99% if fetal DNA sample matches a potential father.
The pregnant person and the potential father must attend an appointment to complete the required paperwork, consents and blood request forms. You will be directed to the nearest qualified pathology centre, with your blood samples returned to Paternity WA and couriered to the laboratory for analysis.
Separate appointments can be arranged.
Testing takes ~ 10-15 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory.
