Testing can confirm the biological mother of a child.  

If in doubt due to:

• Surrogacy to confirm the biological mother when the birth mother is a surrogate
• IVF – ensuring the implanted embryo was the biological parents
• Adoption – when an adult child is seeking their biological mother
• Hospital – the rare case where a suspected mix up may have occurred.
